Marketing Copy Writer
Octane Press is seeking a writer to create authentic, captivating copy for our marketing and sales efforts. The candidate will work with our publisher, assistant to the publisher, and publicists to create copy for email marketing, social media posts and marketing, and targetted trade promotion. Ideal candidate has experience writing for advertising and marketing, some understanding of farming and/or machines (or an appetite to learn), and loves books Contract position, can be located anywhere. Pay commensurate with experience. 

Project Editor 
We are looking for editors with experience project managing books from content edit to printer delivery. The ideal candidate has done this on a professional basis, and has experience reviewing copyedited and proofed work, coordinating with authors, editors, and designers, and getting materials delivered to the printer. Pay commensurate with experience. Freelance position. An Austin-based candidate is ideal but not critical. 

Our books all go out to freelance copy editors. We have a great core of people doing this and would like a few more when the workload gets heavy. You must intimately understand grammar, punctuation, and have experience working with Style guides. Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style and our topic areas are helpful. Minimum requirements are a four-year degree and professional experience editing text for publication. We need a few more eagle-eyed proofers who can catch typos, punctuation, and minor grammatical errors found in final book pages. Minimum requirements are a four-year degree and professional experience proofing text for publication.
