Junior Media Relations Coordinator
Octane Press is seeking a bright, energetic and engaged media relations person to help our team of experienced professional publicists with media outreach, press material creation, and coordination of  appearances. This is a great opportunity to work with some established professionals and get hands-on experience working with media as well. Pay commensurate with experience. Part-time position. Time per week varies. Prefer Austin-based candidates who come into the office periodically for meetings, planning sessions, and so on.

Web Editor
Octane Press is hiring a dynamic, experienced web editor to provide exciting written and visual materials for our growing readership. The ideal person will be creative, tech-savvy, detail-oriented and excited to work with an independent book publishing company focused on gearhead-related topics such as new wave motorcycles, adventure motorcycling, auto racing and rural American history. Grow readership of our books and web material by posting dynamic stories, images and social media posts culled from our books, authors, and archive of images and interviews. Use sharp editorial skills to learn and come to intimately understand multiple niche audiences. Edit and write blog posts, social media posts, newsletters, and descriptive or promotional copy.

Our books all go out to freelance copyeditors. We have a great core of people doing this and would like a few more when the workload gets heavy. You must intimately understand grammar, punctuation, and have experience working with Style guides. Familiarity with Chicago Style and our topic areas are helpful. Minimum requirements are a four-year degree and professional experience editing text for publication. We need a few more eagle-eyed proofers who can catch typos, punctuation, and minor grammatical errors found in final book pages. Video Production Guru
Our topic areas are ripe for awesome video, and our authors and books contain a good amount of raw video ready to produce or simply good potential and resources. We need a person with strong video production and creation skills who can help us transform our exciting content into a rock star video stream.
