Staff Assistant Temporary Help - HALF CENTURY OF FARM PROGRESS SHOW 
Half Century of Farm Progress Show 2019
Location: Rantoul, Illinois
Dates: August 22 & 23, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. August 21, Noon – 4 .m..
 We need a bright, professional book-loving person to assist author and publisher Lee Klancher at the world’s largest tractor show. We are operating a 30x40-foot photographic studio at the show, and the job candidate will be interacting with subjects as well as onlookers interested in learning about our books. The job will entail registering customers for shoots in the booth, gathering details about each person and machine which is photographed in the booth, answering questions about our books, handing out sales materials, and other tasks as needed on the set. Candidate must have professional demeanor, polished communication skills, experience with Microsoft Excel, and excellent attention to detail. Octane Press polo shirt will be provided. Pay is $20 per hour.

Marketing Copy Writer
Octane Press is seeking a writer to create authentic, captivating copy for our marketing and sales efforts. The candidate will work with our publisher, product specialist, and publicists to create copy for email marketing, social media posts and marketing, and targetted trade promotion. Ideal candidate has experience writing for advertising and marketing, some understanding of farming and/or machines (or an appetite to learn), and loves books Contract position, can be located anywhere. Pay commensurate with experience. 

Email Marketer
Octane Press is seeking a bright, energetic, and sales-oriented creative professional to operate our highly successful online marketing program. The candidate will work with our publisher, product specialist, and publicists to create eye-grabbing marketing campaigns delivered with email marketing, social media posts and marketing, and targetted trade promotion. Ideal candidate has experience and talent with advertising and marketing strategy and tactics, has talent as a copy writer and/or graphic artist or art director, and brings a passion for creating authentic, dynamic, and personal marketing materials for our award-winning books. Part-time position. Pay commensurate with experience. An Austin-based candidate is strongly preferred, to allow personal interaction with our team in our downtown Austin office. 

Project Editor 
We are looking for editors with experience project managing books from content edit to printer delivery. The ideal candidate has done this on a professional basis, and has experience reviewing copyedited and proofed work, coordinating with authors, editors, and designers, and getting materials delivered to the printer. Pay commensurate with experience. Freelance position. An Austin-based candidate is ideal but not critical. 

Copyeditor
Our books all go out to freelance copy editors. We have a great core of people doing this and would like a few more when the workload gets heavy. You must intimately understand grammar, punctuation, and have experience working with Style guides. Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style and our topic areas are helpful. Minimum requirements are a four-year degree and professional experience editing text for publication. Proofreader
We need a few more eagle-eyed proofers who can catch typos, punctuation, and minor grammatical errors found in final book pages. Minimum requirements are a four-year degree and professional experience proofing text for publication.
